***12 MARCH 2005 - MAJOR UPDATE***
New pics in Motorways, Non-Motorways, and And Now For Something Completely Differents!
It was a friend of mine that coined this phrase, when we were coming home from various ELO Part II concerts in the early to mid 90's. He lived in Edgware at the time, and as we passed M1 Junction 6 on the way home, just before turning off, he'd always go, "It's Mr Floppy!".
Well, the name stuck, and has now become the 'official' terminology for these types of signs for SABRE (Society for All British Roads Enthusiasts - Link on front page of this site).
Much overlooked, but difficult to ignore, this site pays homage to this most amusing of roadsigns, the Mr Floppy, in all its guises! |

They have them abroad too - just facing the other way, if they drive on the other side of the road!
|
 | 17th Aug 2004 | Dead Floppies
These are floppies that are no longer with us: demolished, dead, deceased, removed! For all I know these might be the only two that make it to this album, but we shall see!

 | 15th Jul 2004 | And Now For Something Completely Different...
'Borderline' Floppies, 'Wannabe' Floppies, and any other oddities that might come this way!

 | 13th Jul 2004 | Non Motorway Floppies
They aren't only on motorways, you know!
|
 | 12th Jul 2004 | Motorway 'Mr Floppy' Signs
You can see how they got called Mr Floppy! Depending on how you look at them, they either look like a mixer tap in a kitchen sink, or more amusingly, a matchstick man in need of some Viagra!
